Race the Pro 5 The Chasedown
A relay race through the Sydenham Underpass. Five-runner mixed crews race an elite adidas pro team over 800m legs. Beat them to the line, win Adizero Pro 5s.
Beat the pros
to the line.
Community crews race an elite adidas pro team over a five-leg relay. The pro team starts with a calculated time handicap. Whichever crew crosses the line first — community or pro — wins.
How the race
gets run.
Team size
5 runners per crew. At least 2 women and 2 men. Captains set the running order.
Leg distance
800m per leg, starting and finishing at the core of the underpass.
The pro handicap
The adidas Pro Team starts behind every community crew, with a head start calculated from that crew's target pace.
The prize
First crew to beat the Pro Team across the line wins a set of Adizero Pro 5s each.
Merch
First 100 through the gates get a tee, screen-printed on-site with the Race the Pro 5 mark.
The mixed
relay rule.
Every 5-person roster needs at least 2 women and 2 men. Captains decide the running order — leg 1 through leg 5 — before the race starts.
