Warranty & Performance Guarantee
At Frontrunner Colombo, we only stock high-performance gear from the world’s leading brands. We stand behind the technical integrity of every product we sell and follow all New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA) guidelines to ensure a fair outcome for our community.
Intended Purpose of Use
All footwear and apparel sold by Frontrunner Colombo are technical products designed for specific athletic purposes: Road Running, Trail Running, or Gym/Indoor Training.
-
The intended purpose of each item is specified in the product description of the original listing.
-
Using a product outside of its intended purpose (e.g., using a lightweight road racing shoe on aggressive technical trails) constitutes misuse and will void your warranty.
Performance (Racing Shoes)
It is important to distinguish between Daily Trainers and Elite Racing Shoes (e.g., carbon-plated models like the Nike Alphafly, PUMA Deviate Nitro Elite, and ASICS Metaspeed).
-
Racing Shoes: These are engineered for maximum weight savings, energy return, and elite performance. To achieve these metrics, manufacturers use thinner meshes and ultra-lightweight foams.
-
The Lifespan: Because they prioritize speed over longevity, racing-specific shoes have a significantly shorter functional lifespan than standard training shoes.
-
Guarantee: While we guarantee these shoes against manufacturing defects, the natural "settling" of racing foam or faster tread wear is a characteristic of high-performance racing tech, not a product fault.
What is Covered? (Manufacturing Defects)
A warranty claim applies to genuine manufacturing flaws, such as:
-
Bonding Failures: Soles or overlays delaminating prematurely.
-
Material Flaws: Mesh or stitching failures that appear under normal, intended usage.
What is NOT Covered? (Fair Wear & Tear)
High-performance gear is "perishable." The following are considered Fair Wear & Tear and are not covered by the CGA:
-
Mileage Expiry: Standard training shoes typically have a life of 500–800km. Once the tread is smoothed or the foam is "dead," the product has met its life expectancy.
-
Friction Wear: Holes in heel linings or "toe-pokes" in the mesh are generally caused by individual fit, lacing, or biomechanics.
-
Heat & Chemical Damage: Damage caused by drying shoes near heaters, using washing machines, or exposure to harsh cleaning chemicals.
-
Storage Degradation: Material breakdown (hydrolysis) caused by long-term storage in damp, unventilated, or excessively hot environments.
Notification & "Cease Use" Policy
Under the CGA, faults must be reported within a reasonable timeframe.
-
14-Day Reporting: Please notify us at customerservice@frontrunnercolombo.co.nz within 14 days of noticing a potential fault.
-
Stop Use Immediately: To protect your rights and your safety, you must cease using the item immediately once a fault is identified. Continued use after a fault has developed can exacerbate the issue and may void your ability to claim a remedy.
How to Submit a Claim & Physical Assessment
To begin a technical review, please email us first with:
-
Proof of Purchase: Receipt or order number.
-
Photos of the Fault: Clear close-ups of the issue.
-
Photos of the Outsole: A clear shot of the tread/bottom of the shoe.
-
Usage Context: Estimated total mileage and the terrain used.
Physical Return Requirement: Following our initial email review, we require the physical product to be returned to us for a full technical assessment.
-
The shoes must be sent back to our Colombo store or dropped off in person.
-
A physical inspection is necessary for us to verify foam density, internal structural integrity, and the nature of the material failure.
-
Assessments are conducted in-house by our specialists and, where necessary, in consultation with the brand’s technical representatives.
The Resolution Process
-
We will repair, replace, or refund the item at our discretion, and work with you for a satisfying resolution.
-
We aim to provide a final technical assessment within 5 business days of receiving the physical product.
